Infill isnít new to Edmonton. But with more people craving a connection to the core, interest in infill development has accelerated. So how do we build new homes on existing lots while maintaining the enviable character of our mature and established neighbourhoods?

Letís Talk Infill is the fifth event in the Great Ideas. Great City. Speaker Series. It highlights Edmontonís first The Infill Design Competition and brings together the competition jury members: Brigitte Shim (Architect), Larry Beasley (Planner), Ken Greenberg (Urban Designer), Anne Cormier (Architect) and Shafraaz Kaba (Architect).

The Infill Design Competition is a response to the challenge of designing new homes in our mature and established neighbourhoods. It is a competition of ideas exploring what great infill design might look like and mean for our northern city. (Competition winners will be announced in October 2016).

While the jury members are gathered in Edmonton to review the 200+ submissions, we wanted to invite the public to a round table involving the jury as they share their thoughts on quality infill design and its relationship to existing neighbourhoods. The round table will also include a Q&A with the audience.

Councillor Scott McKeen and Peter Ohm, the City of Edmonton's Chief Planner, will provide welcome and opening remarks.
