    Councillor seeks St. Albert mayoralty
    Published: Tuesday, June 05, 2007

There is now a two-man race for mayor of St. Albert.

Nolan Crouse, who is finishing his first term on St. Albert council, is running for mayor, promising to "carry the torch forward as it is handed down from the leaders of yesterday".

Crouse, 53, is up against former mayor Richard Plain, a retired university professor who was narrowly defeated in 2004 by Paul Chalifoux. Chalifoux, a retired teacher, is not seeking re-election as mayor.

Before being elected to council, Crouse was general manager and head coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Traders and Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. His wood products company, Sunchild Forest Products, closed in 2002.

In a sign of the times, Crouse is using two youth-friendly websites, and, to reach voters.

Anyone in St. Albert or knowledgeable willing to make a prediction on the SA mayoralty election? I think Crouse walks away with the race but am an outsider.
