  • St Albert annexation will allow for 80 years of growth

The City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County have signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow St. Albert to annex 2200 Hectares. The uncontested annexation will give St. Albert room to grow for 80 years.

In 80 years time they'll have to build another western regional bypass to connect AHD to Hwy 2 south of Morinville!

St.Albert gets an uncontested 5000 acres or a 80 year supply of land from Sturgeon County. Meanwhile, Beaumont who needs land to grow had to fight for close to 4 years to annex 3360 acres from Leduc County only to have Edmonton want to take back 1440 acres from Beaumont in a hostile annexation. So much for collaboration.

I suspect Beaumont would much rather have Sturgeon County playing in their sandbox rather than Leduc County and Edmonton.

As a resident of St.Albert I'm against collaboration with Edmonton for 2 reasons .
1.) Saint Alberta is a family community, the number 1 community in Canada to raise a family . Our priority are much different than Edmonton. You won't find a casino , pawn shop, or injection site in our downtown.
2.) Edmonton will cry till it gets a majority of seats or vote and then nobody will have any say ( except Edmonton) . It will all be done behind closed doors , with no regard for our existing laws in place .

            1) because St Albert offload all your undesirables onto Edmonton. You will find a casino in St Albert though and I'm sure theres at least a few pawn shops. Downtown Edmonton doesn't have a pawnshop or injection sites.
            2) Edmonton already has veto rights as it has the majority of the population, and is the economic driver of the entire region, and the financial hub of not only this region, but central and northern Alberta. And everything will be done legally.

when did you move out of the evergreen trailer park? If you follow all your post history, one day you've left the province for manitoba, next your living in a trailer park, or trying to find crown land to live off of, now your in highly taxed St Albert? Boy you move a lot.

No, because it's a big city. There's lots of private opportunities that are also only available in the big city.

People come from alberta small towns and reserves, the north, out east and around the world and settle in Edmonton first while they're most vulnerable because:

-There's more affordable older housing available. (Private Sector)
-There's more employment available. (private sector)
-There are more education options available (mostly public sector but some private, all here for market reasons)
-There are communites here from the same places that they can join (private)

All the government social services are here because those vulnerable people are here, not the other way around.

And yes, there are Pawn shops and drug houses in St. Albert.
                There can only be one.

So how is a non-downtown casino any less harmful to the community than a downtown casino?
