I think Sloan saw the writing on the wall. How much support did she really have from fellow councillors?

Also, I think that Ward 1's population growth will be west of Anthony Henday Drive (Lewis Farms, Potter Greens and Secord), in recent years.

Maybe. But with Sloan out of the picture this may motivate others to run who didn't think they stood a chance against her.
Even if others did, it's getting late and, unless someone has some name recognition, the chances of winning are slim.
I appreciate your optimism but as I have been saying the last few days, there is still a great deal of work to be done. I made a commitment to knock on 18,000 doors and although I have been able to knock on 10,000 so far, I still have to keep working over the next 63 days so that I can reach the remaining 8,000 doors and earn the support of those across Ward 1.

EDMONTON - Sean Amato has announced he is running for city council in Ward 1.

Amato has been a broadcast journalist for 10 years and has covered city hall meetings and public hearings for five years. He is taking a break from his job at CTV to work on his campaign.

He joins declared candidates Bryan Sandilands, Jamie Post, Andrew Knack and Sharon Maclise in the race to fill the seat being vacated by retiring Coun. Linda Sloan.

OMG, his voice/delivery drives me nuts. Even if he has much to offer in his platform my ears will just close up.

I'd be for Knack. The guy's paid his dues.
