Okay I'm wrong. Thanks for doing the research IanO!

But that is no excuse for restaurants with an enclosed patio (ie. not sidewalk) to remain closed during the gorgeous warm spell.

two words, labour shortages. I would wager that the vast majority of reastaurants are understaffed in this city(explains the **** poor service in most places). having the patio open is not as easy as it would seem to outsiders but trust me its a pain in the *** more than anything(in these economic conditions at least)

(and curse the spell check for saying thats not how to spell labour!)
be offended! figure out why later...

After doing an evening drive around town, a quick look-see of the patios.

          Jasper Ave:
          - Joeys: closed and all the furniture is gone
          - Tin Palace: closed, furniture stacked up within
          - Kelly's Pub: open
          - Second Cup (all locations): open
          - Suede: not sure, furniture still up but nobody using them

          Whyte Ave:
          - Wunderbar: open
          - Hudsons: open
          - Elephant & Castle: closed and packed away
          - Julios: no patio tables but windows still open to street
          - O'Byrnes: open

Have not seen any patios open downtown as of today. However, it's a wee bit early because they don't usually open until (I believe) the beginning of May.
We are all the same, just different...

                      again Edmonton.... WHY?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!

you dont need plus 30 and shorts for patios.

+5 and sun with a jacket is quite nice as well.

                      so stupid

i hate the excuse that many places use in that our season is too short for the effort... well if you put your stuff out in late june and close up sept long then yes.

however, you put it out mid april and keep it out to late oct... perhaps with a space heater and bamn

Many patios on Whyte Ave were open and filled with people today, with one notable exception being Murietta's.

                            Downtown?
Second Cup on Jasper and 112 - open and busy
                            Joey's - still closed
Kelly's - open, with some people enjoying an outdoor brew
Tin Palace - closed but the outdoor furniture's been set up

Since you went to Whyte ave today, where do all of the motorcyclists hangout now that the Timmy's parking lot is closed?

I've heard my fair share of rumblers today.

I was by Rice Howard Way recently and saw Sherlock Homes have a patio open and full of people. Nice to see people on RHW.
