  • Maybe they’re changing the name and the prices so they can sell some ice cream.
Just enjoying another day in paradise.

          • Man, soooooooooooo much of the mall is boarded up right now. February is always so depressing in malls, lol. Two giant blocked areas in the main upper hallway, the entire wing by Sears is closed (both floors, plus 2 stores on the lower floor), the old pet store hasn't reopened as a pot shop yet, and the whole "Local Stores" area is empty again. Still nothing over by that frozen yogurt/crackling ice cream spot. I still remember when there was a sit-down Edo over there- that's where I first tried their stuff (I used to eat in the foodcourt location all the time when I worked at Zellers).

Weird question: Anyone have pictures of the upper area of that wing, before the Coin & Stamp moved? I remember there being a little alcove where there was a rug store or something, but I can't quite remember what it looked like?

                • I was told that the franchisee for both locations, decided to close them due to personal reasons. Sweet Jesus is trying to get both stores reopened as soon as possible.

They look CRAZY abandoned right now. Like, "stuff left on the counters and mess everywhere" abandoned, as if someone was told they weren't getting paid that day and so they just left. It's a bit funny to me, as I had a running gag on here making fun of how the one upstairs at WEM seemed like it was NEVER going to open. I swear it had a "Coming Soon!" sign longer than it was actually open, lol.

So does the juice stand right in front of the water park. I've checked there a couple of times, and you can see mess in the back and stains on things. I think that one was abandoned, too. Unless it's just open every day and I happened to miss it .

                    • The coming soon sign at Sweet Jesus was up for almost a year before they opened. Gem-Oro is boarded up. Not sure if their new location has opened.

                      • What are the longest lasting stores in WEM?

Are many of the original stores still there? (In the original locations?)

I can’t think of any that I miss except for CDN Tire and The Museum Company.

                        • Hudson's Bay. In WEM since day one, 15 September 1981.

Not sure if that was the original location.

In Canada since May 2, 1670

                          • ^^^^ Yes The Bay is in it's original opening day location. Watch for another possible closing as I read that Payless Shoe Source is closing it's stores in the U.S.

                              What's the Museum Company?

I miss that one Dinosaur-themed shop. I sadly never went into the part with all the big models they had- I wanted to, but my friends never wanted to go. In retrospect, I should have just gone by myself- it probably was only a couple of minutes' worth of stuff, given the size of the location.
