    • really dont understand how bar patrons keep doing this. when i frequented the bar scene, i would use the restroom right before leaving. Get a cab and then go home.

Some guys just can’t handle their booze. They drive, they ****, they simply become weak minded.

The nightclub opposite the Alta visits condos, they stumble out of there, and my daughter sees them urinating on their lawns, throwing up on the flowers etc, and they have to do needle patrol in the morning..because they use the parking lot, to shoot up..

And of course, those very same guys would get all indignant if something similar ever happened to their property.

As I’ve said, I’d love to walk up to some graffiti vandal and spray paint on their shirt to see how they’d react.

          • I wonder how many of these people actually live nearby.

And what if you can't get a cab right away? Or you end up getting some street food first? And the ugly lights have come on in the bar, meaning you aren't getting back in?

There does need to be some sort of public washrooms in the entertainment areas. But it's definitely a tough nut to crack, with the concerns about mis-use, drug use and so on.

              • Maybe they can have Depends vending machines in bars.

It’s a bit of a chicken and egg thing. Or as they say: Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. Society has never found enough reason to suitably help out addicts and homeless on the street, so making a case for taxpayers spending big bucks on people that have far more choice, money and mental capacity to avoid the situation is going to be a lot harder. Ninety plus percent of people would see no excuse for this behaviour because they themselves have managed to avoid it. It may not be right or effective but that’s how people think.

Basically if you can afford to drink in a bar you can solve your own problem. Maybe just jack up the fine to a few thousand bucks. Everyone has cameras today so they can expect the odds of getting nailed are increasing daily.

Now. If this issue were about providing facilities to the homeless... why haven’t we solved the whole issue by now?

No heat and no room for homeless folks to sleep. Also low maintenance.
Our homeless sleep under newspaper, if there is a roof on those porta- pottys , they'll use them..and who can blame them.

                        • Anyway, who goes to bars anymore? The guys with landlines and newspaper delivery?

Just turn on the big screen and get a drone to drop off a bottle next to the couch. Keep the last empty ready for a refill.

Maybe bars should hand out doggy poop bags.

                            • As drove by at about 6 pm last night, could see guys passed out on the floor of the Whyte Avenue washroom. One with his head nearly under a urinal. A third guy stepping over him to use the other urinal.

The only positive is that we’re not hiding such realities from public view anymore. (Almost framing them behind glass now.)
