  • Forum Rules and Guidelines

    1. Descriptive subject lines and research into your posts are encouraged. These simple procedures reduce the chance of duplicate posts and ensure that other members can read items that they find important and ignore the rest.
    2. Criticizing an idea is encouraged, but criticizing the person who posted it is not. Excessive attacks on a person's character will not be tolerated and may be grounds for suspension of posting privileges. The moderation team will determine what is inappropriate.
    3. No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or objectifying material.
    4. Respect the privacy of others. Do not post other's phone numbers, addresses, pictures, etc., without their express permission.
    5. Each forum member may have only one account unless an exception is granted by moderators.
    6. Do not place foul language in thread subjects.
    7. No commercial-oriented posts (spam), and no flooding with useless content or content designed to engage readers into attacks or flooding other forums. For example, inciting C2E members to spam a Calgary Sun message board with un-professional posts after they print a negative Edmonton article. In addition, members who posts messages with the sole purpose of advertising or marketing other sites/events without permission are not allowed.
    8. Nick names should not contain any inappropriate words, phrases or symbols. What is inappropriate will be determined solely by the moderation team.
    9. We ask that you keep the language clean. We reserve the right to remove usernames and ban IP addresses of repeat offenders. C2E will immediately remove all posts that violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and any and all posts deemed to be offensive or discriminatory. The offender will be notified and an explanation given. A simple test of foul language is if you would use the language with a business client, a judge in court, or your mother. If no to any of the examples, then it probably is not welcome here.
    10. While we do our best to moderate this forum, C2E will not be held liable to any posts made by independent users of this board. Please understand that this is a public discussion forum.
    11. There are more general topics such as Sports. The very nature of a Sports community encourages banter on a more casual nature than many threads. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS BEFORE ENTERING! Moderators will remove offensive posts, but sports fans by nature like to ridicule teams. Do not enter this area if you are easily offended.
    12. When the ultimate intent of a posting is to solicit business from members ... it is prohibited. (The important points to remember here are that there are many alternate means to promote a business and our members did not make a commitment to join C2E to be solicited.) However, when the ultimate intent of the posting is to solicit ideas from members ... that's fine and encouraged. (Please note that some commercial postings deemed inappropriate could perhaps be deemed appropriate if they were simply rephrased by the poster.)
    13. When posting newspaper articles, only post the first 150 words followed by a link to the article's source.

    Posting Guidelines
    1. When posting images be considerate of people who have slower computers and connections that you. Try and keep large gallerys off site or else at least warn in the thread title if there are many images.
    2. Thread titles should be with proper case and puncuation. All caps (THREAD TITLE), no caps (thread title), and excessive punctuation (Thread Title!!!!!!!) should be avoided.

This isn't a rule, but feel free to drop on by the Introduction Thread to say "Hello" and maybe introduce yourself as well.
    Time to grow up.
