Trump economic adviser says US should ‘bet on President Trump’s intuition’ over science

PETER NAVARRO: If it saves lives, that’s a beautiful thing. But I think history will judge who is right on this debate but I bet on Trump’s intuition.
Earlier today Navarro explained how his PhD in the social sciences qualified him to give a second opinion on the scientific data available on hydroxychloroquine.

H.L. and MrNazi have been pretty scarce around here. Maybe they're self-medicating with hydroxychloroquine based on Trump's reccomendation.

    • I'll give credit where it's due, and it does seem that Navarro was one of the few senior members of the administration to foresee the pandemic and it's consequences: https://www.axios.com/exclusive-nava...48f8382a9.html

It's a shame that no one listened. In large part because he has a well earned reputation as being a member of crazy town when it comes to trade and China. But it looks like his instincts were right for once.

If you are missing MrNazi and H.L., here is a quote from the former in his classic projection style from his own private bubble, one that he has lived in for years where we have only lived due to coronavirus.

Thank you for saying it outright.

The left Right wants people captured and brainwashed if their opinions disagree with theirs. Just like in Cuba, USSR, North Korea, China, etc.

I'm getting really tired of being proven right wrong all the time, but at least one individual of this forum's leftist echo chamber is far be it me, MrNazi is not being open and honest.

I still don't understand , why he was let go.

He went outside of his chain of command with his plea to evacuate the ship. Apparently the strike force commander who was his immediate superior was not on the distribution for his letter. It's hard to say why without hearing from Crozier himself or knowing more about what went on behind the scenes. Maybe he was naive, maybe he was desperate after repeatedly being told "no" by his direct superior.

In any case, Modly has now been forced to apologize by the Secretary of Defense: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/07/polit...rus/index.html

Strange that he doesn't lose his job too.

Are there calls for Dr Fauchis dismissal? I hope to God, I heard that wrong..

Acting secretary of the Navy resigns after calling ousted aircraft carrier captain 'stupid'

Washington (CNN)Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly resigned on Tuesday, a day after leaked audio revealed he called the ousted commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt "stupid" in an address to the ship's crew, according to a US official and a former senior military official.

The Navy and Department of Defense did not respond to a request for comment. Undersecretary of the Army James McPherson has been tapped to succeed Modly, a US official and a defense official tells CNN. McPherson is a retired rear admiral and was the former judge advocate general of the Navy.
On Monday, Modly told the crew of the Roosevelt that their former commander, Capt. Brett Crozier, was either "too naive or too stupid" to be in command or that he intentionally leaked a memo to the media, in which Crozier warned about coronavirus spreading aboard the aircraft carrier and urged action to save his sailors, according to remarks obtained by CNN.
Late Monday night, Modly apologized in a statement for calling Crozier "stupid" in his earlier remarks.
                  https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/07/polit...ump/index.html

Congressmen Ted W. Lieu (D-CA) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) called on the Dept. of Defense Inspector General to investigate whether Acting Secretary Modly had acted inappropriately in relieving Crozier of his command. The following week they sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Mark Esper calling for Modly to be fired because of his comments to sailors aboard the Theodore Roosevelt and his decision to relieve Crozier.[20] Several other Democratic members of Congress, including Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, joined in the call for Modly's resignation or removal.

On April 7, the Navy reported that of the 61% of the Theodore Roosevelt crew tested for COVID-19, 173 had tested positive, including Captain Crozier. That same day, Modly resigned from his position. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Modly

                    • Notice how Trump prefers to put in "Acting" appointees for several reasons.

                      A. Trump is an actor himself on this reality show
                      B. Acting heads are disposible
                      C. They would never pass the Congressional small test
                      D. Keeps them only as sycophants

Notice also the Trump goes ballistic with anyone who has the title, Inspector General.

Memo to Trump, cheerleaders are not part of the team and do not win games, they just dance around and perform tricks while looking pretty.

Coaches lead and the players win games

Trump calling himself a cheerleader is totally spot-on.

                        • So, is Crozier likely to be reinstated? I don't know how these things work, but I sincerely hope he gets his command back. It'll be anonther one in the eye for that creep Modly.

                          • Faux News = Fake News

Fox News Is Preparing to Be Sued Over Coronavirus Misinformation

Just over a week ago, former Fox Business host Trish Regan parted ways with the network, ostensibly because she called the coronavirus melee “yet another attempt to impeach...demonize, and destroy the president.” That the comments, which mirrored those of nearly every other Fox host at the time, would result in her termination seemed disproportionate, and last week a member of Fox Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch’s front office told the Daily Beast that Regan represented “a sacrificial lamb”—a scapegoat for critics who lampooned the network for dangerously misinforming its viewers about a deadly pandemic. Regan’s ouster failed to achieve this goal, and according to new reports, Fox is now lawyering up, bracing for a litany of public-interest lawsuits and letters of condemnation for pedaling misinformation for weeks prior to coronavirus’s explosion in the U.S.

The first such consumer-protection complaint came from the Washington League for Increased Transparency and Ethics (WASHLITE) on Thursday, which named Murdoch,__ Fox News, AT&T, Comcast, and other related entities as defendants. Seeking nominal damage, the suit claims the “defendants acted in bad faith to willfully and maliciously disseminate false information denying and minimizing the danger posed by the spread of the novel Coronavirus, or COVID-19, which is now recognized as an international pandemic.” WASHLITE board member Arthur West justified the suit by accusing Fox News of goading Americans into ignoring social distancing measures, thus exacerbating the outbreak. “That’s the real evil of this type of programming,” he told the Times of San Diego. “We believe it delayed and interfered with a prompt and adequate response to this coronavirus pandemic.”

                              • Trump continues to flail about, looking for someone to blame for his shortcomings. Check out this word salad.

Genius Trump Threatens to Defund World Health Organization at Height of Coronavirus Pandemic

“The WHO ..receives vast amounts of money from the United States, and uh, we pay for a majority of, the biggest portion of their money,” Trump said. “And they, uh, actually criticized and disagreed with my travel ban at the time I did it, and they were wrong. They’ve been wrong about a lot of things...they seem to be very China-centric.”

                                ---

The U.S. has paid the WHO $893 million during the current two-year funding period, per Stat, which is about 14.67 percent of its budget. The WHO has long been short on funding and losing this money would severely compromise its ability to respond to the pandemic, which as of Tuesday evening is now at over 1.4 million confirmed infections and 82,000 deaths globally.

Let’s be crystal clear about what’s going on here: This has nothing to do with the WHO’s relationship with China and everything to do with the president’s frantic attempts to point the finger at any and all possible scapegoats now that the U.S. is the world leader in cases (about 400,000, with nearly 13,000 deaths). While the WHO has tread on eggshells on issues that could antagonize China, it is also influenced by other powerful member states, and the real issue is that does not have the resources or degree of cooperation necessary to coordinate a unified global response to the virus. There is nothing that cutting its funding would do but make the situation worse.
