  • Edmonton's lost businesses

Too bad this can't be a wiki, but would c2e be successful as a go to place for people to write up descriptions of old family or other businesses. Wikipedia is no good because you need published articles or reference material.

I figure many old Edmonton businesses will soon be totally forgotten as family and former coworkers die off.

So is there a way we could work to have people record that history here?

No need for a duplicate thread, we've had this thread going for a long time:
“You have to dream big. If we want to be a little city, we dream small. If we want to be a big city, we dream big, and this is a big idea.” - Mayor Stephen Mandel, 02/22/2012

Yeah I like that one, but it just names them. There's no content.

It's nothing like a wiki article which describes the business. Who started it, when it was started, great accomplishments...

For instance, I started a list of notable Edmontonians on Wikipedia, but that's just a list. Click on some of the names and you'll find some very interesting bios on the people. Wikipedia though doesn't accept people's recollections and personal information though, so a lot of information will never make it onto the site.

We've thought of the idea, and maybe it will make it into future releases.

Good thing I didn't post this in the great ideas forum.

How come you folks haven't posted you thoughts about upgrades? Or have you?
