About double what Ivanpah gets to make steam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivanpa...Power_Facility), and that's a spooky-cool installation.
I am in no way entitled to your opinion...

I imagine that something like this could be a substitute for coal or nuclear power.

        More lies. Obvious lies.
        Artificial intelligence?
Pointing a mirror to reflect sunlight onto an object is high school math.
The track record of billion dollar heliostats is dismal. Can I sell short on this stock? I'd like to invest.
I wonder how much government funding got flushed down the toilet on this one?

Yes, Artificial intelligence is real. MrCombust intelligence is fake news.

Pointing hundreds of mirrors accurately and continuously is more than high school math. Another lie on your part.

Billion dollar heliostat projects??? Most heliostat projects cost UNDER $100 million and many are very successful

Moreover, although some projects are entirely privately built, some include federal grants and loan guarantees, much like nuclear plants and other large scale energy projects including oil and gas.

I am not saying that this particular project will be a total success but MrCombust's opinions are just more of his misinformation and deliberate lies.
