What a great post and message KC.

You really use quotes about as effective as anybody I have encountered. What I like most is you use them for the reason they were made and a deep understanding of it. Thank you for your wisdom and contributions if this doesn't get stated enough.

I don't often come on this thread, or comment, but wow, what a post for a Monday morning. One we can all reflect on. I know myself I can be toxic with some people, on some topics. I can be refreshing with other people, on other topics. The thing is, and that we can spend our whole lives not fully comprehending, is that people are different and that not all people are meant to be friends. With some friends and extended family sometimes we try to force things to work, that aren't working. When this occurs to me, and I feel something like this incompatibility I just feel sad. Eventually I learn. Other people do to when they need to cut away from me.

The worst thing, and most dangerous thing are the people that can't let go and that hate, and stalk. That's a whole other topic albeit not OT this being online.

Anyway welcome to Scona Brat as well and take what you can from this site. I too remember Whyte Avenue before the days of Fringe and revival and welcome those comments and memories.

As far as feeling ignored not every post gets responded to, not every thought expressed online engaged. Especially with newer posters. Sometimes it takes some time and you develop some posters that converse back and forth. In anycase even if theres no responses people read your posts. That theres a reaction is not always evident although I modeled visible reaction and acknowledgement in this post, because of KC's contributions here.

Excellent. Welcome to c2e. I hope you post a lot of information and forward the site link to anyone and everyone that could do the same!!!! Looking forward to learning more, and more, and more.

As for feeling welcome. Well... Life is far too short to stick with anything you don't like - especially in your spare, unpaid time. So just try c2e for the fun of it - literally - the fun of it.

Ten Things I have Learned by Milton Glaser

    "...

SOME PEOPLE ARE TOXiC AVOID THEM

This is a subtext of number one. There was in the sixties a man named Fritz Perls who was a gestalt therapist. Gestalt therapy derives from art history, it proposes you must the ‘whole’ before you can understand the details. What you have to look at is the entire culture, the entire family and community and so on. Perls proposed that in all relationships people could be either toxic or nourishing towards one another. it is not necessarily true that the same person will be toxic or nourishing in every relationship, but the combination of any two people in a relationship produces toxic or nourishing consequences. And the important thing that I can tell you is that there is a test to determine whether someone is toxic or nourishing in your relationship with them. Here is the test: You have spent some time with this person, either you have a drink or go for dinner or you go to a ball game. It doesn’t matter very much but at the end of that time you observe whether you are more energized or less energized. Whether you are tired or whether you are exhilarated. If you are more tired then you have been poisoned. If you have more energy you have been nourished. The test is almost infallible and I suggest that you use it for the rest of your life.

Hi Ralph, nice to meet you. I've been in Edmonton since 1978 and if you think its expensive here, try living in the lower mainland BC. Alberta is cheap compared to BC now. Hope you like c2e. Lots of cheerleaders around here for various projects and --it. If you can get around the Ra Ra crowd, these are good people for the most part.

    Cheers.

hi, my name is Ralph. I was born in the royal Alec when bell bottoms & sideburns were still groovy, but starting to fade. I've not really lived in Edmonton - well first 5 years in the 'burbs (Sherwood park) and then quite often on the basement couch of a NAIT buddy while taking computer systems tech in the late 80's. I lived for a number of years in Lacombe while working for a crown corporation. While I was there, I travelled extensively for work (Orlando, San Francisco) and for play (van island, jasper, Banff, Logan's pass, and a lot through the Okanagan) on my motorcycles. I also spent close to a decade in Germany finding family and self. I'm currently about 60 k north of Edmonton, so about 45 min to the Henday exit off highway 28. I'm usually in town at least once a week. off topic, my bikes here were
    -Yamaha DT80
    -Can Am Qualifier 175
    - Honda cb750k
    - Honda v65 sabre
    - Honda ST1100 (still miss that one)
    - Ducati 900 ss cr
    - KTM 6-days 640 (converted to super moto)
    - KTM 525 exc desert racer
    - ducati 900 SSie
    and now no longer riding.
Edmonton is too expensive for me to live in, so i'll continue living where I'm at and driving in when I need something.
have a good one, C2E'ers i'll be around
