Sorry, what about it? Good idea? Happening? Bad idea? Should happen?

This should provide relief to Hwy 627.

Realignment and reconstruction of the highway will be completed in two stages:
    • Between 231 Street at the west end of Whitemud Drive in Edmonton to Highway 60.
    • Between Highway 60 and Campsite Road south of Spruce Grove.

Land purchase and relocation of utilities will begin in 2019 and construction could start in 2021. Construction is expected to take four to six years to complete and will support more than 350 direct and indirect jobs.

Funny, I was just wondering about this road in the Acheson overpass thread. I decided to follow Whitemud out west last summer, and was shocked to find it was a gravel road south of Spruce Grove. Hopefully that bit gets paved as part of this work, it seemed to be the only stretch that wasn't asphalt.

There is a lot of recent work between Stony and Spruce on this stretch. I can completely understand its use, but it won't help 627 much. That road is further south and takes more industrial traffic. 628 will definitely assist 16A with its loads though...

I think improvements to this whole stretch will not only benefit this are of the city but it may be even more beneficial to River Cree and Enoch. I would hope that Enoch Cree Nation would take this opportunity to look at further business development and opportunity near River Cree Casino.
