Noticed that at a lot of restaurants in the last month or so. Strange business move.

You guys, just had a scrumptious breakfast at Cora in the Days Inn (south of Jasper/106 St). Only thing though, it was clearly dead except for another table. Mind you they only opened this month and, according to the waiter, they rarely advertise. But I am expecting you downtown homer types to frequent this place and give it the love it deserves!

My GF is excited that it is there and once people know about it, it should do just fine.

Opened up C2E and was surprised to see the breakfast posts as we just finished a super good and large breakfast from room service in the Delta calgary. Poached eggs, muffins, toast, delicious potatoes, big fat sausages, comes with a pot of tea and pot of coffee and lots of fixings. We enjoyed 2 pools and 2 hot tubs and water slide last evening for hours of family fun. Picking up supplies for the shop today but we’re here for another night. Decided not to go to Banff as it’s too gloomy and wintry but I see the mountains clearly from our sixth floor window. lol

I love getting to the mountains in the winter. Being surrounded by evergreens makes it seem far less bleak and desolate than here in the city surrounded by leafless grey/brown ash and elm.

Because it is a Cora, I expected a lineup out the door. Not a dead place.

Campus Sherlock's might have been a good place had you and your table of henchmen sent Top_Dawg a couple of breakfast beers the other day.

    Very inhospitable of youz.

    Nice tuque.

    And Happy New Year.

Stopped for breakfast at Albert's on 124 St. There were just 2 other tables filled. I doubt the decor has been upgraded since the 1980s since the pastels had a Miami Vice feel to it. The food was alright except they got a failing grade on the eggs. The service was good.

Anyone try Rockin' Robyn's, across the street from former Mayfield Hotel? We were going to try it the other day for breakfast, but it was quite busy and we couldn't wait.

I've had good brunch/breakfasts at Cafe Bicyclette in bonnie doon.
Juniper in Strathearn (has a little kids play area as well)
Sweet Pea Cafe in Laurier heights (very large/elaborate kids play area that you have to book you kid in to - don't have to have kids to eat there though)

I believe Sweet Pea is vegan. I am not, but the food was good.

I tried brunch at Cafe Blackbird. Good eats but busy as hell.

I've had good experiences at Juniper, but one time had to endure extremely snobbish, borderline rude service from one of their employees. While this was at least a couple of years ago now and (hopefully) this particular dude has either moved on or gotten an attitude adjustment, it really soured my whole feeling about the place and I never returned. There's too many good options in this city for me to want to risk a second experience like that.

Went to the downtown Cora this morning. I was the first there; by the time I was leaving, most of the booths were full. Had a Rosemary's Sunday which was quite good.

Too lazy to read through thread. Has anyone already mentioned OEB on Rice Howard Way? If not, it’s pretty great!
