Edmonton's Heritage Festival
Wednesday May 24, 2006
Jack Little

Edmonton is indeed blessed by having a jewel of a park in the centre of the city. Every year Hawrelak Park is transformed into a multicultural city known to Edmontonians as the Edmonton Heritage Festival.  Visitors sample culinary delicacies, see creative performances, shop for crafts, artwork, and clothing, or chat with people eager to tell you a little about their cultural roots and their present-day communities in Canada.

The mission of the Edmonton Heritage Festival is to promote public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for cultural diversity.
The theme for the 2006 Festival is “Come Be Part Of It” and runs in Hawrelak Park August 5th, 6th, & 7th

2006 is the 31st renewal of the Heritage Festival that will feature 58 pavilions representing over 70 cultures.  This is a record for representative countries as the previous high was 52.  The Festival is family friendly with special emphasis on the Children’s Corner.  The Children’s Corner will feature face painting, clowns, ethnic arts & crafts, cultural “learn to dance” presentations, and new this year the Monster Mural and an Arial Dance.

Come be part of our family August 5th, 6th, & 7th!
