Right. I'm a little foggy as to the details, but then I'm always a little foggy. Just let me know where and when.

Thanks for breaking the thread off into another one. The title looks much better when it shows up.

Same as before, I can make it out barring any hangovers.
Thing is, will all the snow be melted by Sunday?

The biggest question right now is where to meet on sunday. I'll go before hand and pickup the stuff from 3 bananas...

Time: 1030
Where: somewhere around the area IanO proposes above??

Discuss - lets try to come up with a firm place by morning...?

If its a go this weekend, we gotta do the Arlington area. The other day the neighboring school was strewn with all these yellow plastic Medicare protest signs.

Will the snow be melted enough to clean up the Arlington area?

I took a long walk around downtown and Oliver today, and didn't see much garbage around.

although i had to leave early for work, it was great to see the difference along 100ave from 105st-106st. Worst single block i have ever seen.

thanks to Mayor Mandel and Councillor Henderson for pitching in along with everyone that came out.

see you in 2 weeks.

^what i cant understand though is the following:

1. bylaw officer fine the owner of the arlington for not cleaning up his site

2. 50% of the litter was on city property, but apparently the city gives a rats arse about "image".

I hope to see more of you out next time...

cross post, last two paragraphs in particular...

http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/forum...5&postcount=41

noting of course that "the city" as you put it is all of us and "city property" is everyone's front yard. when we all start to treat that city property like our own front yard is when we won't have to waste time banning things for everyone and picking up after others.

Sorry I couldn't make it out this time.

As for the Arlington garbage, maybe next time we clean it up we should drop it off at CosMedics botox clinic!

On my walk to the office from starbucks in the omega I noticed that the grass yard around the church on 107 street and 99 ave was filthy. Worse than anything I've seen this spring by far.

I know a few of us were upset with the amount of crap generated by the nightclubs, including cigarette butts, puke, general garbage, and especially those promo postcards put on people's dashboards, and, of course, dropped on the ground. The were everywhere, and are difficult to sweep up! We let Ben Henderson and Mayor Mandel know.

Notwithstanding that nightclubs are responsible for their mess, and should be cleaning it up, they were open until 3 am on their busiest night of the week, and probably worked until 4 at least. Then we were there early in the morning.

When I ran a nightclub, I always cleaned up first thing the next day, but that may have been at the crack of 2pm. Now, looking back, and having experienced cleaning up after those other clubs, I'd have a better idea.

Most clubs have a clean up crew come in overnight to clean up. How about asking clubs about paying their cleaners for an extra hour to also clean the lot and the sidewalk. Then see what they do. If they don't do anything, and don't care, then I don't care if they're fined. Money talks for these businesses, and if it's worth it for them to clean up (as for keeping the sidewalks clear of snow), they'll do it. I'd prefer to give them the chance to do it because they should.

Hey everyone, the Downtown Edmonton Community League (DECL) had talked about getting a crew together to adopt-a-block. Maybe I will have anyone interested in helping out check out this thread.

Also, if anyone is interested in joining DECL for the annual River Valley Cleanup, let me know. We usually tackle the stairs on 104 st (between 98 and 99 Ave), if anyone is interested in helping out.
