Alright, let's see how popular South Edmonton Common really is amongst C2E land. It's one of the hated areas of the city.

Well, you only have to go there on a saturday afternoon to see how popular the place is.

It's like West Ed in that it has every store your little heart desires except instead of fighting crowded hallways you're navigating crowded parking lots.

Other than IKEA, what's exclusive to WEM? And yes, I got to IKEA a few times a year....

Um, never. I don't do "Ikea" and other than them what else does SEC have that K'way or WEM or Southgate don't have?

I am not a SEC (or WEM) hater I just like to shop local "mom and pop" stores.

For Ikea if I have to and I do enjoy OPM.

Regardless, I avoid it as much as possible.

I believe there are some restaurants whose only locations are in SEC, most notably Milestones. Other than that, I can't really tell you because I avoid that hellhole like the plague!

Other than for movies and my unfortunate trips to bestbuy never. That place is pure poison for anyone who values their sanity.

I like going to Chuck E. Cheeses and playing all the kids games to win the easy jackpots, then cashing in 1000 tickets for a sweet bouncy ball

Pretty much the same for me. If I need something I head to Home Depot or Staples or some other shop.

I go to IKEA about twice a year. If it wasn't for IKEA I'll avoid SEC like a plague.

Even though I live on the southside, I go downtown to watch a movie. For my shopping needs I'll hit the malls or the big box stores around Whitemud and Calgary Trail.

South Edmonton Common is a dog's breakfast. There is nothing common about the place.

I concur, I do not understand why people would be lined up into the vestibule of a Swiss Chalet on a Friday night at 9/10 pm, and actually waiting to get in...there are a ton of other options in the city.

To me, waiting like that is not convenient, and isn't SEC supposed to be all about the convenience? Can you say poor planning/infrastructure? (for the whole area)

I don't like shopping at Ikea, so it's not a draw for me.

I went to the Cineplex there this weekend only because my sister drove me there, I'd rather go to Silvercity. Lineups for a Sunday evening were too long and convulated (just convulated in general - whose bright idea was to have the automated ticket dispenser right at the doors, thus having the line-ups blocking the entrance completely?)

Mind you, I don't go to many big box stores because they are simply too far away for me to go. The only exceptions are Future Shop (Downtown and Terra Losa), Staples (Downtown and Terra Losa), London Drugs (WEM, Jasper Gates, Downtown) and Home Depot (Westview). Zellers is my friend. (Meadowlark, WEM)

Same for me except my preferred movie and big box store destination is Clareview.
