| Heritage and History There are literally dozens of museums, large and small, that tell the history of Edmonton and area yet you rarely see anything on the forum about them. This forum is C2E's attempt to fix that error. History is the foundation we build our future on and our community, like a home, needs a strong foundation to last. Rather than allow it to be overwhelmed, ignored or left to the persistent few lets create a section where it has it's own voice. Working with the area Museums and Edmonton Heritage Council C2E could create a history/heritage section that would give voice and story to the amazing and exciting history of Edmonton and allow smaller museums to have a voice and promote themselves to the community. |

I have to say that I enjoyed the exhibit . I have always been a museum buff and this provides a good profile of a real canadian heroic figure. They have done well to display the exhibit and the video love story is done with accuracy and context. The main foundation of the exhibit is the collection of letters , there is something so very interesting in reading the documents , you get a real feel of the person behind the words.
Sam Steele really needs a screenplay to reach the wider audience , there so much historical content and context in his life fully lived. The museum exhibit is a nice added feature to downtown , I hope more people take it in . I did not see many when I went , but this is summer and there is a lot of competition. It may have been a better plan to open this in the winter , taking the time to go through this reading the letters and documents is where the real effect can be gained . Kudos to the U of A bringing this downtown , I would like to see more of their exhibitions brought downtown. It adds yet another cultural dynamic to the city. They have the facility , the archives and the ability to tell the story . Please keep the exhibits coming. |
