Historic/Doors Open Edmonton - July 3-8, 2012

JULY 3 - 8, 2012

Historic Festival & Doors Open Edmonton visitors can explore museums and historic sites, participate in heritage activities such as tours of buildings, gardens, natural areas, cemeteries and neighbourhoods. Visitors can also enjoy community milestone celebrations, participate in hands-on pioneer experiences, search archives and learn about documenting their own family history.

Free guided Doors Open tours of buildings and areas of architectural significance have become a major focus of the festival. People love to "snoop" behind the scenes, hear the stories of the building and, most importantly, the people who built them and lived in them.

The 3rd annual Speakers' Studio takes place July 7th and 8th and features presentations about a variety of historic and heritage related topics that include the story of the amalgamation of the Cities of Edmonton and Strathcona, our provincial and municipal heritage building inventories, the story of a local architect's net-zero home and more. The Speaker's Studio take place at the Prince of Wales Armouries and is free to the public.

All Historic Festival and Doors Open Edmonton activities take place in the Greater Edmonton area.

Now all I need to get a little bit of time away from work and try to decide whice locations to go to.
