I'm most like an Albertan lol, fitting

I think long gun registry, and enviornment being big enough to take care of itself, perhaps tipped me that way. Interesting to see hardly any Canadians want dope to be illegal.

"strange" options/language in many of the questions. having said that, it pegged me as an ontarian which doesn't bother me in the least. i would be quite surprised if the poll results don't show albertans as more aligned with the rest of the country or other areas of the country than "separate and identifiable from" the rest of the country. which is probably a good thing for both alberta and the country.

^the differences are pretty minor I think, when you look at comparisons to what other Canadians voted. Its interesting on how on some issues there is a lot of agreement (like on marijuana) that is different from what we have ever seen from a government.

^its not a sterotype, that's how more Albertans voted when given the poll compared to other provinces.

The vacation question was odd. Apparently nobody goes to other parts of Canada. They either stay home, stay close to home, or leave country.

it's not 1975 but the "methodology" is interesting...

it's a non scientific poll based on a series of polls used to create a continuum (and per our last election we all know how accurate the polls can be). my issue was less with the polls and the methodology for this one than the kind of language used above. hopefully it was just meant to be humourous.

what i would be interested in knowing would have been the actual location of their respondents and not just their attributed location. that however, would move past the stereotypes instead of reinforcing them (unless all of the answers attributable to the maritimes are credited to alberta ).

as an aside, taking the last choice of all of the options labels you as a quebecer without question but taking the first choice of all of the options labels you as an albertan but only after answering a skill testing question to confirm your credibility (do you believe in the possibility of bigfoot)...

no... according to their methodology this poll was set up based on scales determined by prior polls from more than one pollster. this poll has never before been given and the answers are not being tracked by region at all. and their presentation is not only stereotypical, but intentionally stereotypical.

Bizzare. Sort of like the Grope and Flail its very centre-of-the-known-universe self.

Maritimer? Much as I'd love to, only ever seen any of the maritimes from about 40,000 feet up.

Dumb quiz. I put me up as Prairie-Dweller, although I really don't fit the description. Not sure how they weigh each answer, and the options for most of the questions are terrible. How does betting my car prove that I love Obama? I want him to win the next election, but I'm not totally sold that he will, at least at this point. Stupid questions with stupid answers.

Most likely a Maritimer. Hmm.

Quote:
but pass on marijuana
This, despite Alberta having high support for legalized marijuana (I believe second highest in the country after B.C.)? Sounds like someone who lives in the Horseshoe and hasn't seen anything outside the Calgary Airport and maybe Banff/Lake Louise.

Quote:
f the Queen or Obama are in town, they'll leave for a long vacation
Despite the fact that I know many Albertans support the Queen and the monarchy?

And Obama would be a Con if he were in Canuck politics anyways. Wasn't there high support for Obama in both Edmonton and Calgary in 2008/2009? And wasn't it when Dubya came to town there was protesting?

Quote:
Harper visits, they'll roll out the red carpet and tout all the virtues of oil production.
Haha, I guess. Perhaps not to that extreme, but sadly, that sentiment is true for a lo of Albertans (minus the extreme oil part at the end I guess).

British Columbian

Funny, since I've only ever been to BC twice for a total stay shorter than a week.

Just because I would like to see Obama re-elected, doesn't mean I'd bet my house on whether it happens. Weird questions for sure.

Regardless of its accuracy, at least its indicative, per the results, of who the true Albertans on the board are (how did Hilman get on there, lol).
