Controversial Finance Minister Ron Liepert told the PC caucus today he won’t run in the next election, according to party and government sources.

An early Christmas gift to Alberta. Thank heaven.

I don't worry about this man anyway, if he doesn't want to re-elected , so be it.

Mr. Liepert is a volatile combination. Incompetence trumped by arrogance.

That's one less idealogue we'll have to deal with.

Everything good happens in threes.

1. Peter Goldring
2. Iris Evans
3. Ron Liepert.

So the next question is: What about Morton?

Good to hear. What a tool.

Now, how do we get rid of "say one thing, do another" Redford?

She's a two-faced pile of garbage and has lost my vote, along with the party that voted her in based on those very same promises, and then stood by her as she crapped all over them.

The next pronouncement will be the one that'll mildly enrage me - not that I'm usually given to any kind of enragement. The pronouncement of Liepert's final denouement to Alberta taxpayers, the huge sums he'll walk away with. Incompetence rewarded. Obscene, no doubt.

Not just Liepert, also Ken Kowalski and:

Quote:
former premier Ed Stelmach, 60, the man who started it all when he announced his intention to resign in November 2010; Iris Evans, who is just days away from her 70th birthday and served as health minister under premier Ralph Klein; Ron Liepert, 62, the bull in Alberta’s political china shop, health minister under Mr. Stelmach and now finance minister; Lloyd Snelgrove, 55, president of Treasury Board under Mr. Stelmach.

Lesser lights include former energy minister Mel Knight, 67; former children’s minister Janis Tarchuk, 56; Richard Marz, 67; Barry McFarland, 63; and Ken Allred, who will be 71 in a couple of weeks. By the time this is posted, this list will probably have grown: at any rate, expect neo-Con grandee Freddy-Lee “Ted” Morton, 62, once the Finance Minister and now the mighty Minister of Energy, and Gene Zwozdesky, 63, another former health minister, to join the list before long.
Premier Alison Redford enforces generational change in Alberta government
Perhaps Redford really is going to manage the housecleaning she promised.

Proof that the Peter Principle is alive and well in Alberta politics
