| Air/Rail Links Edmonton continues to improve its ranking as a major transportation hub for northern Canada and beyond. New air routes, more cargo, Port Alberta, a major rail operations centre and the related infrastructure are all part of this increasingly critical component of the region’s economic growth. I am wondering about the logic ZOOM is using on their flights from YEG to gatwick this year. 2 flights leaving YEG - 5 minutes apart. One via Winnipeg - the other from Vancouver through Edmonton making it the better of the two flights as it will be a non-stop. Is ZOOM trying to run AC out of town?

I'd guess it's just capacity management. If they sell all the seats on a flight to Vancouver travellers, they'd probably just overfly YEG and go straight to LHR and put the Edmonton travellers on via YWG. But if they don't sell out at YVR, they stop at YEG for the cheep gas and a few extra lucky flyers.
Does YWG have a second one that goes via Halifax or something? That would confirm it. |

I believe the schedule is mistaken. If you try to book through Zoom's on-line reservation system, the only flights available are non-stop once weekly on Thursdays.
Originally, the flights were routed through Winnipeg but when Air Canada introduced their non-stop to LHR, Zoom had a change of hearts. Air Transat also flies the YEG-LGW route non-stop once weekly so i don't see how Zoom could have ever thought they could get away with routing the YEG-LGW flight through Winnipeg. |

Zoom will fly via YWG starting in May through June 7 and then will fly directly to LGW for the rest of the summer once a week. There will not be two flights a week from YEG.

I now see that the booking engine shows only the one flight (from YVR via YEG to LGW) dept 11 Oct return 25 Oct - which makes it a Non-Stop - and on the return LGW-YEG-YVR.
