Air/Rail Links Edmonton continues to improve its ranking as a major transportation hub for northern Canada and beyond. New air routes, more cargo, Port Alberta, a major rail operations centre and the related infrastructure are all part of this increasingly critical component of the regionís economic growth. Default Allegiant Air to Laughlin Nevada.

This seasons charters to Laughlin Nevada are being operated by Allegiant Air using MD-87 aircraft, today was the first flight.Flights can be booked through sunfest tours. The flights were formerly operated by Canadian North 737-200's.

Noticed that someone keeps deleting that Allegiant air is operating to YEG on wikipedia.

If its a airline indeed flying here for a tour operator on charter basis does that not mean they should be on there just as Air Transat etc???

Seems stupid to me...

Well at least they're swapping one fuel efficient quiet airplane for another

MD-87's do have a larger capacity 172 (1 class) then the 737-200 though (124-1 class), so that could mean more people can get to Laughlin (if they keep a similar schedule)

Is that only 1 month of flights? 1 per week for 4 weeks?

Yes its a yearly short term flight, but the point is Calgary brags about having short term charters, So why dont we? Even if its a golf charter to Laughlin.Sunfest has run these flights from YEG for the last 7 years. As someone mentioned the fuel bill is likely a little softer than the 737-200 fuel bill.
