Default Edmonton 8th most romantic city

http://www.edmontonsun.com/news/edmo.../12805271.html

Quote:
Edmonton is the eighth most romantic city in Canada, according to sales data from Amazon.ca.

The online giant compiled the 20 city list by looking at their own sales data on romance novels, sex and relationship books, romantic comedy DVDs, and Michael Buble CDs since Jan. 1 on a per capita basis in cities with over 100,000 residents.

The 20 city list was topped by Saskatoon, followed by Calgary and Victoria.
1. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
2. Calgary, Alberta
3. Victoria, British Columbia
4. Regina, Saskatchewan
5. Guelph, Ontario
6. Kingston, Ontario
7. Kelowna, British Columbia
8. Edmonton, Alberta
9. Winnipeg, Manitoba
10. London, Ontario
11. Peterborough, Ontario
12. Ottawa, Ontario
13. Thunder Bay, Ontario
14. Abbotsford, British Columbia
15. Sudbury, Ontario
16. Halifax, Nova Scotia
17. Brantford, Ontario
18. Barrie, Ontario
19. St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
20. Windsor, Ontario
No Montreal on the list?

looking at that list speaks to why criteria is so important as well as context... for that title made me think of most places NOT on that list.

^^re Montreal, they don't read and dream about it, they do it, they don't need the outlet. You could rename the list, "most sexually repressed cities", and it would probably work as well.

This appears to be a list of cities in Canada with the least interesting options for a romantic night out...hence buying all the stay at home stuff.

Turn it the other way around. Maybe people are buying romance books, romance DVD's, sex and relationship books and Michael Buble (or Bubble if your American) music because there is not enough romance in your life.
No romance so it's a subsitute for lack of.

no quebec cities on the list... which probably speaks more to language issues than romanticism.

Michael Buble is romantic?

'Round the Bear household, the soundtrack during business time is courtesy Al Green or Iron & Wine.

And Edmontonians don't need relationship or sex books because we already know how to do it.

Talk about context. I've never shopped on Amazon.ca nor do I enjoy Mr. Buble. I'd rather shop local and then get it on to Nine Inch Nails, personally.

Perhaps the title should read: "Edmonton 8th in sales of 'romantic' items on Amazon.ca and Micheal Buble albums", but that wouldn't be a good headline, would it?

"and then get it on to Nine Inch Nails"

Much love for clubs that play "Closer" just after last call...
