All the tails look great with that tower - especially how the British logo flow so nicely with the tower's design.

Noticed WestJet announced new winter destinations for YYC and YVR. Good thing we are served well by Sunwing.

Vancouver got Orlando, a route we already have.

There are increases in WestJet's schedule for Edmonton.

Over last winter:

Abbotsford 13-20/week
Halifax 0-5/week
Kamloops 0-7/week
Kelowna 20-27/weeek

I would prefer MORE non-stops on WJ to Sunwing. Quite a few of the Sunwing flights stop in YYC both ways. As far as AC goes they will soon be squeezed out totally as WJ builds domestic frequency...setting the stage for a new airline to serve the domestic market.

Has there been any discussion of a possible airport to Edmonton Link? Similar to that of the Toronto UP Express?

There is now, the 747! Ok, more akin to the rocket... but works very well other than early morning flights.

That said, LRT should get there one day... but still 10-15yrs off i'd say. If you search hard enough, you can find the proposed alignments.

I'm fairly certain that public transit to EIA has been discussed in about a dozen threads already!

Yeah. The consensus (in the C2E sense of the term ) is just tweak the 747 with something like:
  • Move the YEG stop away from the smoking area.
  • Allow use of debit/credit for tickets.
  • Make an integrated fare product an option (so you can get an ETS transfer.)
  • Improve signage/advertising.
  • Improve frequency to minimum 30 minutes.

What's less agreed is:
  • LRT to YEG (would need the Capital Line to more than double in length.)
  • Route 757 to Downtown.
  • Route 767 to WEM.
  • Use of regular transit fare to ride.
  • Smaller buses (to save fuel.)

I think we're somewhere around there.

Should that be 3 x daily to Saskatoon?

Default Direct flight YEG to YCD

Happy to hear about the direct flight to central Vancouver island (long awaited). This will be great for worker connections to northern Alberta , family visits and winter getaways for golfing and boating
On the island, a good option with the Canadian dollar being so low at present.

Nanaimo is only about an hour and half from both Comox and Victoria airports, which (I believe) have 3 or 4 daily flights (all WJ) between them year round. I am hopeful the flight will work out, but demand will have to come almost entirely out of/to Nanaimo, as the rest of the island is fairly well covered. Maybe those routes are bursting at the seams, I've only flown that way a couple times.

Over the last couple of years the flight growth at YCD has been impressive. With three daily flights to Calgary from Nanaimo between WestJet and Air Canada, the Edmonton flight is a bit of catch up.

The Cassidy airport is increasing preferred over Victoria by the Cowichan valley area due traffic in the Colwood and Malahat chokepoints. I think the new flight will have legs.

I wonder how much of this demand is from Iceland air and KLM connections?

My son flew Edmonton to Namino via Calgary on a school trip recently, this flight would have made life a lot simpler for the teachers. I'm guessing schools alone will take a big chunk of the flight.

^^ Good question. The new flights certainly won't hurt the Icelandair / KLM feed.
