| Air/Rail Links Edmonton continues to improve its ranking as a major transportation hub for northern Canada and beyond. New air routes, more cargo, Port Alberta, a major rail operations centre and the related infrastructure are all part of this increasingly critical component of the region’s economic growth. For the past several weeks I have noticed WestJet operates flights to Yellowknife every Tuesday and Wednesday. These are in addition to the daily flights. They cannot be booked online. After doing a little research I found this:
http://www.nnsl.com/northern-news-se...7_12ekaT2.html Seems WestJet has taken over a contract previously operated by Canadian North. These flights (3900) depart around 8:30AM using a 737-700. Scheduled flights (109) depart at 11:30AM using a 737-600. |

Interesting: from main terminal, mixing paying pax with charter, or from Executive Flight Centre?
Not that Canadian North will just give up. Let's see where those cards fall. Hoot.

Canadian North ( and Air North for that Matter) are expanding with their services to the oil sands , While Southern based West Jet expands it services in the North. A good economy and Interesting times.
