CBC drops Wheel and Jeopardy

TORONTO – The CBC is dropping its popular but long-contentious U.S. imports “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!”
The public broadcaster says the supper-hour game shows will not return as part of the CBC-TV’s fall schedule after four-year-long contracts expire this summer.

No, we watch for Coronation Street and Dragon's Den.

I used to watch for the late night news. Even though The National anchor continues to announce "Now stay tuned for your local news", we're now treated to stories originating from the Alberta/NWT border and northwards. Er . . . not really local, CBC.

Me, I watch for Republic of Doyle, Rick Mercer and The National.

Good riddance to Wheel and Jeopardy, I say.

I wish CBC took a more proactive approach to making more Canadian made shows. Stuff like Degrassi, Trailer Park boys, Kids in the Hall, and SCTV can be made using younger upcoming actors and wouldn't cost all that much.
