Just wondering if there are any other backyard pool owners out there that would like to discuss concerns about owning a pool in Edmonton. Topics such as maitenance companies, when do you open / close your pool , where do you buy your chemicals??
I know there are other forums for pool owners but most are US or central Canada. I am looking for local feedback and info. |

^ My folks have a pool at their house in Vernon.... they really enjoy it but it's very maintenance intensive. There are tonnes of "pool guys" out there, you should have no problem finding someone.
I imagine the pool season in Edmonton would be pretty short though

I grew up with a pool, and it was much longer season, so more useful. I would never buy one though, I remember all the maintenance (chlorine, cleaning, etc.) as much as the enjoyment. Maybe if indoors wouldn't be so bad.

I purchased my house with the pool 9 years ago. I don't find the maintenance to be that bad, maybe slightly more than taking care of my lawn but definately less than would be required to maintain a garden.
Pool is typically open mid April until Late September / early october. We typically average 3-4 swims per week. I do most of my own work however the major jobs such as pump and liner replacement I called in the pros. |
