I may be wrong but I seem to recall some controversy about unpaid debts or something, plus some riding selection issues but his experience includes a health council, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and a community advisory council.

I think the old riding selection issue got put to rest when he got re-elected this May.
Good for Tim. Nice to see an Edmonton/Sherwood Park MP get into cabinet.

I think he put him there because they want to keep shoring up the ethnic vote, plain and simple.

My irony/BS detector went off and hasn't stopped. The "Honourable" Tim Uppal being named as Secretary for Democratic Reform is pretty rich. The same guy who the party parachuted in as their candidate in 2008 to replace the DEMOCRATICALLY chosen candidate is now going to be standing up in Parliament to discuss/debate democracy? Give me a break...
