Get ready for the Edmonton Energy as they hit the hardwood for the 2011 season. It's an exciting year as we look forward to a super competitive and entertaining year. The Edmonton Energy get ready to move into the 2012 season playing out of the brand new "GO CENTRE".

Edmonton Energy has an incredible group of returning players that have recently played basketball in Europe. The City of Edmonton is extremely proud to showcase a pro level basketball team that feature extraordinary athletes from around the world. Rick Stanley, 2011 General Manager Edmonton Energy, looks to build from the previous seasons in the International Basketball League. Building basketball in the City of Edmonton and around the province of Alberta, is a key focus for the GM and the rest of the Energy program. "This is an incredible city and province that champions sport and entertainment second to no one across Canada", says Stanley.

With 10 games in Edmonton, 5 games across the rest of Alberta and 8 games in the United States get ready to see Canada's professional basketball team battle for the IBL championship. Local stars and international players will come to entertain and showcase talent that excites crowds in North America.

Question:

Will they go broke this year?

If theres playoffs will they compete in the playoffs or decide they can't afford to?

I think these are the main questions a potential fanbase may want to know given past circumstance.

To answer your question, YES the team will compete in the playoffs as they have scheduled their 1 and only road trip of the short season at the end of June to be in Portland , where the IBL playoffs are subsequently held. So doing it this way allows the team to make the 1 road trip allowed during the short IBL season and schedule that road trip in conjunction with the IBL playoffs. I hope this helps, and hope to see the basketball fans on C2E supporting the Energy, starting May 20 at the UofA Main Gym against the Bellingham Slam, GAME TIME at 7:30

Strange thing is that there are actually LOTS of basketball fans in this city... PLENTY of kids who play it, but very few who will go... I don't have all the answers, but it's a very high level of basketball... in a baseball comparison, probably closest to an AA type...

I love basketball and have known David Dorward my whole life. He's a good man. Still, I think it's going to be an even bigger struggle for the Energy to draw fans after last year's playoff cancellation fiasco. Step 1 towards repairing that damage would be a very public reassurance that the team will complete the 2011 season. I appreciate BRAY88's passion ^^ but much more needs to be done.
