107Th Street Lofts is a gorgeous award winning building (buildings) that is a great example of how to increase density as well as providing excellent live/work spaces downtown. Perfectly run and excellently maintained by a group of very talented people.

I'd like to obtain information on the possibility of creating a green roof for the complex or in the very least for a portion of the complex.

I've seen that NAIT students have been involved in another project in the City... can anyone provide factual information to me/contacts who are knowledgable/experts regarding green roofs here in Edmonton?

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Hey Everyone,

First time, long time.

Does anyone have any information about the condo development on 87th Street and Whyte Ave? It is called Madison on Whyte. I walked into the show suite last week. The units range from 600 sq feet to 1300 sq feet and are priced between 250-300 before GST.

The show suite makes the units look pretty good, but it is hard to say because the rest of the building is not complete. The sales woman claims they have sold about 45% of the units thus far and are moving around 2-3 per week.

I am curious if anyone has any more information about price/negotiating, the developer, or the building itself.

What are your thoughts on resale in that area?

Thanks

Goudreau says new homeowner warranties could be included
BY ARCHIE MCLEAN, EDMONTONJOURNAL.COM AUGUST 18, 2010 6:27 PM

EDMONTON — Municipal Affairs Minister Hector Goudreau says he will bring recommendations to caucus this fall to protect homeowners from junky building practices and could introduce legislation next spring.

The rules could include new homeowner warranties, but that won’t be the silver bullet, Goudreau said.

“It’s one of the tools we’re looking at, but the new home warranty program by itself won’t, in my opinion, magically solve housing construction problems.”

Goudreau has been under fire this week for not acting on a 2008 government report that said some houses and condos were not being built to provincial standards. It suggested immediate action is needed to shield buyers from poor building practices.
