I hope that we see many changes with the red X in the coming decade!

I hope that we see many changes with the red X in the coming decade!

Care to explain that... Red X? I'm confused.

That being said, I hope we see a nice new arena, a new hotel, a new casino on the property... at the very least an arena, and the hotel/casino could move over to Stationlands.

Does the picture not work for anyone else? if it doesn't work, try ctrl+f5 to refresh, and the image might come up... it should be working...

I can see it just fine, now I know what you were talking about when you said the "Red X". I had no clue what you were referring to the first time around.

I'd say Stationlands, The Edmontonian, and Aurora, but they'll all be blocked by a new arena.

I can see it now. I'd say it'll change significantly over that time period, but perhaps not as much as we'd hope for. The first Phase of Aurora will itself take 2 years at the least to build, and it's not starting until the spring at the very earliest at this point. So in 5 years you might see two of those towers up and complete, with a third on the way.

Just think, that view could have been replaced with a big green Superstore.

Except that it was never planned to be a "green" Superstore.

And hopefully some nice landscaping... Why can't the city force parking lot owners to have their lots nicely paved, landscaped, and kept clean? At least then I wouldn't be so concerned with the state of the empty lots in our downtown.

^while true, the new stuff above will vastly improve that aspect.

Also, 105ave should be redone by 5 yrs

I thought there was a by-law about this enacted a couple of years ago.

It's quite possible... but that would mean by-law officers would have to enforce the by-law... which I find they don't do as often as they should.

is 5 years time enough for a downtown rink?

It is if it gets started in the next year. Although, knowing the way things operate around here, it could take 20 years to build.

i believe some "initial design" has been done and so another year/year and a half or so for IFT drawings and realistically 2010 construction with occupancy 2013.
