EDMONTON - A new ride, a demonstration of acrobatics and contortion, and 50,000 butterflies will descend upon Northlands next month for what organizers hope will be the biggest Capital Ex yet.

"You absolutely don't want to miss this," said Laura Gadowsky, Northlands director responsible for Capital Ex. "This is 10 days of amazing entertainment, value, fun for the entire family."

Last year saw the third-highest attendance numbers for the fair formerly known as Klondike Days. The 10-day event runs July 17 to 26.

Leading the parade on July 17 will be world champion curler Kevin Martin.

Capital Ex will also shoot to break a world record on July 22 by hosting 50,000 butterflies, 10 times the number of exotic insects featured last year.
