Re: Posting of Newspaper Clippings / Other Website Quoting

Our C2E community is getting quite large and very popular, yes! However, with any growth comes change.

We have been asked to keep clippings to 150 words (so do not post the full article) and to attach a link to the Journal, the Sun or whatever publication is being quoted from.

Cite where the source is from as well.

Example

Lorem Ipsum (Article title or headline).
"Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit..."
"There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain..."

Lorem Ipsum: All the Facts.com Website
Date Accessed: November 09, 2007 (or date the article was published in the paper).

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Vivamus fringilla purus ut felis. Nulla arcu ante, ornare eu, ullamcorper sit amet, interdum id, elit. Praesent leo dolor, elementum placerat, sagittis non, dignissim non, eros. Nulla mollis nunc eu tellus. Mauris pharetra. Nam lacinia felis id diam. Proin tristique mollis diam. Proin est ligula, luctus in, vulputate eu, tempus non, nulla. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Suspendisse orci velit, pretium sit amet, tincidunt et, posuere id, ligula. Fusce quam. Praesent feugiat elit. Vestibulum interdum sollicitudin augue. Vivamus lobortis. Quisque pharetra interdum magna. Fusce placerat lacinia lectus. Aenean a mauris at quam laoreet accumsan. In facilisis purus. Phasellus aliquam tempor erat. Fusce commodo, sapien eu interdum dictum, felis ligula tempor lacus, a ullamcorper nunc massa vitae odio.

Thanks Everyone!

copyright is one issue - i would guess that maintaining readership on one's own site (which is what creates the revenue needed to generate the original articles in the first place) is probable just a large a concern.

one advantage for c2e on the other side is that it will reduce the length of some of the posts (and the replies that quote the entire initial post) and the full length duplicate posts throughout c2e. if anyone wants the full article, the link should be there and immediate so there is no "censorship" or withholding of information from c2e.

i'm not sure what you hear is a *ROAR* from the real world of copyright as much as it is a whisper that both acknowledges and supports c2e's activities and legitimacy and is requesting common courtesy in return.

I want to refresh this as a gentle reminder.

Please do not quote entire newspaper articles.

Instead limit the post to 150 words and provide the link to the article.

Thanks everyone for your attention to this!

Just a gentle reminder to all - I'm increasingly seeing full articles being posted!!
