Focus Edmonton workshops to shape city's future

C2E members are invited to provide feedback on three different growth scenario concepts that could guide our city's development over the next 30 years. Half-day workshops are scheduled for Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 to set our course for future land development and redevelopment decisions (Focus Edmonton: City Plan).

Register online before Oct. 29 at www.FocusEdmonton.ca or call (780) 944-4470.

When Mary Ann McConnell-Boehm looks 30 years into Edmonton's future, she sees a place where the population has increased by 400,000 and one in five residents is a senior citizen.

Although these predicted changes won't happen for decades, the senior city planner and her team are working hard on a long-term land-use plan that will help guide Edmonton's growth until 2040.

The last city plan was completed in 1998. Much has changed since then, McConnell-Boehm said Thursday.

HAVE YOUR SAY

Anyone interested in giving their opinion on which combination of these three scenarios should guide Edmonton's development can attend one of six free half-day public workshops on Oct. 31, Nov.1 and Nov. 3.

The meetings will be held in the University of Alberta's Lister Hall conference centre at 116th Street and 87th Avenue.

To register or for more information go to www.FocusEdmonton.ca, or call 944-4470.
