OK. Inaugaral social meeting tomorrow, 7:00PM at Suede on the patio if it's sunny . Look for a table with a copy of the Oliver ARP on the table.

Second meeting place and time will be decided during the social. It will be before the Strathearn meeting next Thursday.

Unless anyone has an objection or better idea.

Can you explain what the Oliver ARP is and what the Edmonton Density Action Group is/does? Thanks.

Sorry for not making this clear.

Oliver Area Redevelopment Plan. It's a spiral bound booklet with a mostly greenish photograph cover. I just figured that some way of identifying the group would be smart 'cause nobody knows what we look like.

The group is brand new (and the name will probably change) so what it is and does is kind of fluid, but the basic idea is to organize the people who are in favour of a more urban vs suburban city to effectively lobby our position to both city hall and the city as a whole.

Hmmm, an antidote to Nimbyism. I take it that this was inspired by community opposition to the Strathearn and Glenora projects.

- I have no sympathy for Strathearn and other neighbourhoods opposed to high-density residential projects. If their schools or libraries subsequently close because they aren't enough people using them, too bad.

OK, not too many people showed up. Is there a day that might work for most people this coming week, BEFORE Thursday when the Strathearn meeting takes place?

Any night except Monday or Tuesday. (Which leaves Wednesday...)

I know for me last night was tricky as I had been out late the last two Fridays and just really needed to unwind at home.

Anyone know of a good pub to host the first meeting of ESLF?

(The Edmonton Sardine Liberation Front, that is)

Let me know!

How would one recognize the group if she wished to join in? Coloured t-shirts? A sign? Or maybe the hostess will know?

A copy of the Oliver Area Redevelopment Plan will be placed on the table.... Also, I'm 6'4", so look for a big guy, then look on the table for a spiral bound booklet.

I now have a meeting in the deep north part of Edmonton until 19:00 or so...still want to come though.

How long/late do you reckon you will be at Brewster's?

Okay then. I'm going to walk through Brewsters going up to all the tables where I see a tall man sitting and peer over his shoulder to potentially spy a coil-bound notebook in his hands.

Or you could just tell the hostess and I'll ask her. :)

You think just walking around and peering over mens shoulders might be awkward…

I've tried that game at Brewsters.... it doesn't work too well, so I'm not going to promise that the person(s) I tell will have a clue what you're asking about 2 seconds after I've told them. ;)

O ye of little faith...

So... looks like Oliver Brester is the location?

Hm... I might as well attend something.

Hmm. Just had it pointed out to me that the meeting for Strathearn is tonight, not tomorrow night. :?

That means that I'll be at the meeting instead of at Brewsters...
