Published: Friday, June 15, 2007

Candidates in the upcoming civic election can now pick up their nomination form package at City Hall.

People running for city council must get signatures of 25 eligible voters, while candidates for mayor must get 100 signatures.

Nomination papers, including those of candidates for school trustee, must be submitted to the city on Sept. 17. The election is Oct. 15.

For the first time, voters can request a mail-in ballot if they'll be away on voting day, cannot go to the polls because of physical disability, or who will be a candidate or election worker on voting day.

Information for candidates is available at www.edmonton.ca/election, or at the city clerk's office on the third floor of City Hall.

Do we have to live in your ward to sign your papers? If not, let us know where you will be collecting signatures.
