Build elevated walkways behind Edmonton's downtown back alleys (behind the office towers) with the 'district energy' hidden above or below the walkways (what are they called? plus 15s?).

District energy is an old idea to use Rossdale's waste heat(water) to replace all the boilers etc. in downtown Edmonton rather than dumping it in the river. It's used in Europe. But the original proposal was to dig up the main streets to bury the lines. After the LRT excavations no one wanted more blocked roads. So I figure - "If you have a skeleton in your closet, you might as well teach it to dance." Put insulated lines up in the air and use the framework to support covered walkways to boot. Would be nice when it's -40 outside to walk from the McDonald Hotel to 109th street inside - or where ever feasibe.

Plus 15's are great to some extent, but they SUCK LIFE off the streets. Just imagine how much more animated Calgary's downtown would be if the Plus 15 network did not exist.

OK Rossdale is gone. So how about this - elevated cycle paths behind the towers and buildings along Jasper Ave. :-)
