View Full Version : C2E outage.

We apologize for the recent outage.

As one of our board members put it, this is a good news/bad news outage.

The good news is that we are growing so fast, we now rival our two dailies for unique visits, and we outperform many if not all Edmonton discussion portals out there.

The bad news is that this explosive growth comes at a cost. That cost is more memory and bandwidth, as well as a better server. Of course, there is another cost, and one of our board members is now absorbing more monthly charges.

The transition was not as smooth as we had hoped, but we are through it and we hope to remain up for some time. We bought more than we need for now.

Thank you for your patience!

C2E Board of Directors.

Short term pain for long term gain? I'm ok with that if we now have increased bandwidth and a peppier server.

Hang on there snuffles............

Board member is absorbing charges for "our" forum????

Thats not fair!!!!

I really appreciate the great work the folks that keep this thing running do and I appreciate the thought...but thats above and beyond the call of any volunteer organization.

As user of this forum I want to know where I can contribute so "no volunteer" is abosorbing costs.

Thanks again guys/gals and we need to make this fair.

Tom

What about just a simple Paypal app? That's how most sites do it.

There is also the possibility of advertising. I do appreciate the site being uncluttered by ad banners, but I would understand if some appeared to help pay the bills.

How about you accept donations via Paypal from members to absorb costs of operating the forums?

Is anyone else having problems loading certain C2E pages today?

C2E's been up and down a lot for me since the changes. Hopefully the kinks get worked out quick.

The site has been stable for the past few hours so I hope we have finally fixed the issue.

As for funding the site, we have a few things on the horizon for that (ideas include all of the suggestions that you all have posted plus a few others). We aren't going anywhere.

Thanks for the support.
